Zack O'Bryant - Band Director
Zack O'Bryant
Director of Bands, Cold Springs High School
Zack O'Bryant's love of music started in childhood where he would spend countless hours listening to classical music and learning how to play various instruments. His music career started, like many, in high school where he played in school bands, church bands, and local garage bands. After high school O'Bryant marched with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005 and 2006 before joining the Marine Corps to be a performing member of “The Commandant’s Own” United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. In his time there, Sergeant O’Bryant performed all across the country and abroad for celebrities, foreign heads-of-state, and three U.S. Presidents. In addition to touring the world, his duties included ceremonies on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Capitol, and the White House.
O’Bryant was honorably discharged in March of 2011 and started attending college at the University of North Alabama that same fall. During his time at UNA, Zack spent several semesters performing with the UNA marching band, wind ensemble, and jazz band.
Mr. O’Bryant performed with the Shoals Symphony Orchestra for three seasons from 2012-2015 where he served as principal percussionist. In addition, after winning their Solo Artist Competition in 2015, Zack had the opportunity to perform a marimba concerto with the orchestra.
O'Bryant graduated from UNA with his Bachelors in Percussion Performance in 2015 and Masters in Music Education in 2017. He is currently the director of bands at Cold Springs High School in Cullman, Alabama. In addition, he is a percussionist in Alabama Winds, the premiere concert band of Alabama.
Mr. O'Bryant lives in Jasper, Alabama with his wife, daughter, and three dogs.
